The Poinsettia flowers are so brilliant, a very showy flower. Only to find out that the bright red "flowers" are really "leaves" called bracts. The flowers are actually the lime green cluster of buds in the center, each one having a fringe of red and yellow, male and female. Poinsettias are not poisonous as rumors have it. They are just brilliant leaves with tiny flowers in the center, Cyathia (flowers) and Bracts (red leaves).
